Yes, there is a huge variety of tour options if you are staying in San Jose, there is basically everything that people normally seek to do during a Trip to Costa Rica, like zip lining, hanging bridges, white water rafting, nature hikes, volcanoes, hot springs, coffee plantations, etc. These wide array of activities is more limited if you decide to stay in a beach hotel.

Staying in San Jose has other advantages, such as avoiding multiple packing/unpacking while changing destinations; and the hotels’ rates in San Jose are much lower than the ones at the touristic destinations, allowing you to stay in a better hotel based on you budget.
