About Tortuguero National Park
Tortuguero is one of the most remote and beautiful rainforest areas of Costa Rica, located on the North Caribbean Region. This part of the country is truly unique, because the only source of transportation is by boat, sort of like the Amazon Jungle in South America; as a matter of fact, Tortuguero is called by native people “The Amazon of Costa Rica”.
The main attraction here is the Tortuguero National Park, which is considered as one of the best places in the country for the observation of wildlife, such as howler monkeys, spider monkeys, white faced capuchin monkeys, sloths, toucans, great green macaws, crocodiles, caimans, iguanas, sea turtles (seasonal), and many other species of our rainforest.
Tortuguero is also a folkloric coastal town where a beautiful contract between the jungle and the ocean can be observed. The culture of this part of Costa Rica is also very different than the rest of the country, especially the food; the visitors can enjoy here the delicious typical Caribbean dishes only found on this side of the country.
