About San Jose
San Jose is the Capital City of Costa Rica, located in a big valley right in the middle of the country. This city has an approximate population of 3.5 million people, including the suburbs of its greater area. It is the main business center of the country, where all of the government offices are, as well as a huge number of national and international corporations that provide lots of employment for its inhabitants.
The City of San Jose is also a popular touristic destination of Costa Rica, due to its privileged location in the center of the country, which allows its visitors to take short drives in all directions to visit many of the most popular destinations. The city is developing innovative forms of traveling, such as medical tourism; the private hospitals and clinics of San Jose are well recognized for the quality of the services and low rates compared to the ones in developed countries.
This Capital City is also starting to develop tourism of meetings, thanks to the opening of its big International Convention Center; the city of San Jose has a privileged location in Central America right in the middle of the 2 large continental masses of North America and South America.
San Jose has a very good lodging platform, featuring hundreds of accommodations of all kinds, from backpackers’ facilities to five start hotels; this large number of lodging options have been able to absorb the huge number of tourists who stay in this city, as well as the big number of people who come for work purposes. The city has also very good infrastructure in terms of access to internet, transportation services and everything that the business visitors need during their stay.
The Capital City of Costa Rica also offers a huge variety of restaurants and shopping options for all tastes. There is not a large number of attractions to offer to the tourists in the city itself, but there are plenty of them in the surrounding areas, enough for a traveler to be busy for a couple of weeks. Some of the few attractions found within the city are the iconic Central Market, the National Theater, the Gold Museum, the Jade Museum, and the National Museum, among others.
