About Cahuita National Park

Cahuita National Park

Cahuita National Park is one of the most beautiful coastal areas in the South Caribbean Region of Costa Rica. This park is a rare combination of white sand beaches, coral reefs, rainforest and abundant wildlife, which makes it one of the best touristic spots in this particular part of the country. Here the visitors have the option to hike through the rainforest on the numerous hiking trails; swim in the beautiful beaches; do snorkeling on the coral reefs around the coast; or do wild animals observation in the trails of the park, where monkeys, sloths, agoutis or birds can be observed, this is actually a great place for bird watching.

Next to the park is also the Cahuita Town, a small and typical Caribbean style coastal town of 8,000 people approximately, where there are many hotels, restaurants and shops, mainly dedicated to tourism nowadays. At the Town of Cahuita there are many restaurants with Caribbean style food, which is very different from the dishes served in the rest of Costa Rica.

Around Cahuita there many other attractions, like the Sloth Sanctuary for example, which is featured in the Animal Planet’s TV show called “Meet the Sloths”. Other popular attractions around Cahuita are the Puerto Viejo Beaches, The Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge and the Jaguar Rescue Center.
